CACI is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Journeyman, Cable/Fiber Plant Technician to join our team to support our customer, U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), in Doral, Florida. This position is contingent upon award. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the Cable/Fiber networking processes in alignment with ITIL best practices. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring smooth and efficient implementation of changes across USSOUTHCOM Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES). Key Responsibilities include performing inside and outside cable plant services supporting fiber, copper, low voltage, direct burial, aerial, conduit, inner ducting, main distribution frame, intermediate distribution frame, and end-user services; supporting terrestrial and non-terrestrial mission-critical reliability and performance for military, commercial, and supporting environmental equipment; splicing overhead or underground cables used in telecommunications systems; creating networking plans including layout, installation and testing; measuring, cutting, installing, and testing fiber and copper cables according to standards identified in test plan; checking signal strength across all elements of the network; supporting USSOUTHCOM communication services and DoDIN operations services; pushing long, flexible, steel ribbon fish tape or rods through ducts; pulling ball or mandrel through duct to clear passage for cable; providing support to prefabricated communication shelters by assisting with OSP cable entrance and overhead cable tray. Qualifications required include an active secret level clearance, 3+ years' experience, operation of material handling machinery such as forklifts and floor pallet jacks, valid driver's license where applicable, expertise on multiple complex work assignments while supporting multiple projects, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience with change management tools and ITSM platforms (ServiceNow). Preferred qualifications include experience in a large, distributed IT enterprise, knowledge of DevOps practices and principles, and a Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
