Job Description

East Coast Editor

This position must sit in EST time zone. Office or remote options.

Bisnow is the commercial real estate industry's leading, vertically integrated B2B media platform, covering North America, Canada, the UK and Ireland. We serve the CRE industry through award-winning news and publications, renowned events, wide-ranging marketing services, specialized recruitment solutions, and intelligent sales enablement tools.

Our platform enables our audience to do more business by engaging more than 1.5M subscribers and convening more than 100K commercial real estate professionals every year. We host hundreds of events, publish thousands of thought-provoking stories, drive qualified leads, and create opportunities that make deals happen. At Bisnow, we love to think globally, but connect and inform our audience hyper-locally.

We're seeking a sharp, creative and obsessively curious Senior Editor to help lead Bisnow's flagship daily newsletter, read by tens of thousands across the commercial real estate industry. This role is equal parts newsletter architect, data sleuth and trend forecaster. You'll help set the tone and direction for our most visible product shaping daily news coverage, uncovering rising markets and asset classes and delivering sharp analysis rooted in proprietary and outside-the-box data.

You'll contribute original writing and strategic editorial vision to the newsletter itself including a regular in-depth column that anchors the edition with voice, insight and edge.

You will also manage and edit two beat reporters focused on hyperlocal high-impact CRE news and enterprise reporting in their own cities. This is a high-autonomy, high-visibility role for someone who understands both real estate and the art of writing and reporting that demands to be read. You'll help steer the daily rhythm, but also elevate the team's work with exclusive charts, smart curation of research and deeper dives into what's shaping CRE today and what's coming next.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an editor and content driver for The First Draft, Bisnow's top-performing daily newsletter.
  • Write an "anchor" column (500+ words) at least twice a month that provides deep analysis or editorial voice using original insights, interviews or overlooked data trends.
  • Edit ~10 stories a week across two East Coast-based reporters (Miami and Atlanta), ranging from breaking news to enterprise investigations.
  • Source and integrate exclusive data and proprietary charts into the newsletter, with a target of at least two per week.
  • Curate and contextualize research and data from beyond CRE (e.g. logistics trends, consumption habits, global economic shifts) to give readers an edge.
  • Identify and spotlight fast-rising CRE markets, property types and sectors aiming for at least one in-depth spotlight or "rising opportunity" package per month.

What Are We Looking For?

  • At least 7 years of journalism experience, with 2 years in a management or assigning editor role.
  • Strong working knowledge of CRE and related sectors.
  • Proven experience writing or editing under tight deadlines we're talking measuring in minutes, not hours ideally in a newsletter or daily news environment.
  • Background or training in data journalism strongly preferred.
  • Ability to find surprising insights in overlooked sources and explain them clearly to a business audience.
  • A great headline writer and structural editor with a clean, engaging writing style.

What's In It For You?

  • Competitive compensation structure!
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance - effective the 1st of the month following your start date.
  • Short and long term disability insurance - this includes maternity and paternity leaves as well.
  • 401K
  • Flexible spending account
  • Health savings account
  • Dependent care account
  • Unlimited vacation days
  • 7 days paid sick leave
  • 9 paid holidays
  • Referral bonus program
  • Pet friendly offices
  • You'll get to work with incredibly smart, passionate, driven, ambitious, kind, caring and mindful people and will rarely experience an overload of policies, bureaucracy or toxicity (the latter, we do not tolerate).

$80,000 - $85,000 a year

Before applying, please read our values below. Our values describe and give insight into our culture. If you do not share the same values, this role will not be a mutually beneficial fit. If you do share these values and want to apply, we encourage you to do so.

Our values demand that we be curious, self-aware, fearless, consistent. We say yes to seemingly insurmountable challenges because we dare ourselves to push further. And we go the distance because we are individually and collectively entrepreneurial, always asking: Why can't it be done? We find a way because we care more than the competition. We embrace team and disown ego. We are ruthlessly disciplined and unabashedly kind. We unreservedly challenge the status quo and vigorously fight for new levels of excellence. We believe the difference between good and great is exceptional communication. We obsess over creating value for our team and our customers. We push ourselves and our industry to be more inclusive, to champion diversity and to fight racism, gender bias and all forms of inequality. We never peak. We never quit. We never have excuses. We own our failures and we commit to being smarter and stronger because of them. We give our best today and even better tomorrow. We are here to win.
