PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR THE POSITION OF FIREFIGHTER THE ONLINE APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED THROUGH THE CITY’S WEBSITE, , BY 11:59 P.M. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1ST, 2025.
PAPER APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT EAST PEORIA CITY HALL, 401 W. WASHINGTON STREET, AND MUST BE MAILED TO THE EAST PEORIA FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION, 401 W. WASHINGTON STREET EAST PEORIA, ILLINOIS 61611, POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1ST, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
1. Attend mandatory orientation
2. Be the minimum age of 21 at date of hire
3. Be under age 35 unless otherwise exempt by statute
4. Citizen of the United States
5. High school graduate or G.E.D.
6. Ability to pass each phase of the Firefighter examination process
7. Valid driver’s license
8. Must become a licensed Illinois paramedic within two years of hire, unless a PHRN
9. Must have a current CPAT card
10. All applicants are subject to the rules and regulations of the Fire and Police Commission Board

MANDATORY ORIENTATION AND TESTING WILL TAKE PLACE AT 5:30 P.M. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH, 2025 AT THE FONDULAC PARK DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 201 VETERANS DRIVE, EAST PEORIA. PLEASE ENTER THROUGH THE MAIN DOORS. WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING: LADDER CLIMB AND 1½-MILE RUN WILL OCCUR FOLLOWED BY THE WRITTEN TEST.
