Job Description

Position Summary: The mission of the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) is to feed the hungry and offer programs and services to encourage self-sufficiency and improve quality of life for people in the Greater Trenton Area. The Grants Manager is responsible for identifying, securing and stewarding grant funding to support TASK’s mission. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of grants—from research and proposal writing to reporting and relationship management—while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with funder requirements. Strong writing and communication skills, self-motivation, flexibility, attention to detail and the ability to successfully handle multiple projects and deadlines are essential to this position. This is a full-time, hybrid, salaried position. This position will require a professional who is experienced in culturally responsive communications and has familiarity with (or is willing to learn more about) trauma-informed storytelling and reporting. Job Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of TASK’s current grant portfolio and calendar. Review and investigate new and existing grant opportunities to determine eligibility and alignment. Prepare and submit LOIs, grant proposals, grant reports and stewardship materials on time to current and potential corporate, government and foundation funders. Work with program and finance staff to gather accurate data and narratives for grant applications and grant reports. Work with staff to align grant applications with TASK’s mission and ensure accurate documentation. Facilitate regular cross-departmental check-ins to coordinate grant efforts. Engage with grantors, including coordinating on-site and off-site volunteer opportunities, tours and other activities. Contribute to TASK communications, promotional materials, annual reports or other publications as needed. As assigned, attend events that will increase engagement of donors, volunteers, and partners. Other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Institutional Giving and/or the Chief Development Officer. Necessary Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, flexibility, attention to detail and the ability to successfully handle multiple projects and deadlines Ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders Excellent verbal and written communication skills Comfort in showing initiative, making recommendations and hearing constructive feedback. Donor database experience desired; Donor Perfect experience preferred Grant management software experience desired; experience with Instrumentl preferred Required Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a related field, or a minimum of an associate degree or two years of college education and experience 3-5 years of grantwriting and grant management experience Experience with government grantwriting and grant management preferred Compensation: Salary range: $62,500 - $67,500 Schedule: 38 hours per week Monday through Friday, schedule to be determined with the Director of Institutional Giving.
