Mechanical Designer - Remote (Michigan based)
Pay Rate - based on proven work history
3-6 month CONTRACT position

Job Description of the Mechanical Designer:
Reporting to the Hardware Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Designer will provide design and document support to the Hardware Engineering and other engineering groups as related to the development of our customer.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Designer:

• Prepare and/or modify mechanical layouts, CAD models, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings using CAD tools such as SolidWorks both in 2D and 3D environments
• Develop and maintain detailed mechanical drawings for components, assemblies and systems, ensuring compliance with all standards and specifications
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure optimal design for manufacturability and assembly
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to generate and manage project-specific BOMs (Bill of Materials)
• Understand, use and contribute to establishing company standards for drafting, including layer names, line and character styles and drawing and file names for sheet layouts
• Own and manage the internal lessons learned database, ensuring accuracy with input from Engineers
• Support the generation of drawings for RFIs and RFPs with customers and business partners
• Review and analyze documents, identifying drawing and specification conflicts, insufficient information, and missing dimensions while contributing ideas to enhance efficiency
• Work independently with minimal guidance when necessary
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required of the Mechanical Designer:

• Extremely proficient in CAD (2D and 3D)
• US Industry Standards (i.e. - ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, NEC, UL)
• Experience in Mechanical Design for Manufacturability and Assembly
