Job Description
Summary: Assist in the daily operations of medical services at Heart & Hands Midwifery and Family Healthcare. Within the framework of the employee handbook, protocols and objectives, under the direction of the clinic providers and manager(s) the MA/CMA/LPN staff will assist the providers in performing routine nursing duties associated with caring for patients seen in our clinic. This position is responsible for ensuring patient needs/requests are addressed, that the provider is set up for what they may need within the appointment. Part of this position is to advocate for patient needs and be a go between for providers and patients. This position needs to positively help the provider stay on task and update them of any schedule changes Duties and Responsibilities:Obtain vitals, collect and document full health history, reconcile medications and allergies & document reason for visit at each encounterPerform patient screening/testing as requested by provider and document in EHRAssist providers with procedures in the patient rooms as neededCollect labs/samples as ordered by providerPrepare and administer vaccines as ordered by providers following the vaccine protocolMaintain medical supplies, equipment and rooms Restock and place orders for medical supplies and equipment as directedClean, sterilize and launder rooms and supplies as neededProcess phone/EHR messages, call/message patients, communicate results and follow through on medical concerns following the triage protocolPerform various clerical duties associated with medical encounters as directedPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time over the course of an 8-10 hour day in an indoor office environmentExtensive typing and computer use is requiredRequires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patientsOccasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to fifty (50) poundsRequires working under potentially stressful conditions and sometimes extended hoursExposure to some communicable diseases, body fluids and possible toxic substances may occur. Expected Qualifications: Certificate or license, depending on credential with a minimum requirement of High School Diploma/GED1-2 years experience working in a medical office settingWorking knowledge of EHR, electronic fax system, multi-line phone systems, google suite, and medical terminology is preferred
