Job Description

The Mine Development Operator will perform mine excavation work necessary to complete major development and construction projects underground. Rehabilitation of underground entryways, ventilation systems and water systems and operate core drill for underground drilling programs. Operate continuous miner, ram car, scoop, and roof bolter. Conveyor belt work. Assist maintenance and support crews. Communicate and coordinate activities with co-workers and supervisors. The candidate must be able to use the necessary equipment and tools to perform the job duties. The selected candidate will help fix things that have happened or about to happen (ex- repair to roads, water system, power, signs, general ground maintenance, etc.). 3 years of underground mining experience is preferred but not required. The Ideal candidate will be experienced in Continuous Mining operation in adverse conditions (mining unstable back at heights up to and above reach of the Miner head, mining on inclines, etc.). Must be capable of identifying and correcting problems and working with minimum supervision. Must be able to use the necessary equipment and tools to perform the job duties (i.e., power hand tools, roof bolter, high-back bolter, ram car & scoop, cutter, loader, miner, welder and cutting torch, core drill, mantrip, foam machine, generators & sump pumps, scaling machine, etc.). Candidate must be team oriented and willing to participate in plant safety, environmental policies and procedures, production results, product quality and cost performance. The candidate must possess the ability to loam safe, efficient operation of underground mining equipment. The ideal candidate must be able to perform physical tasks involving lifting up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, walking, kneeling, etc. may work in low height (48”) mining environment. Must wear all personal protective equipment and follow all safety rules and regulations in accomplishing the job functions. The ideal candidate is also responsible for encouraging crew members’ compliance with all safety rules and regulations. Able to hear, with or without correction. Able to read, write and understand basic English. Able to see, with or without correction. Able to use fine hand motor skills. Able to wear a respirator. Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
