Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead their GL accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Lead the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
• Collaborate with department heads to develop forecasts and track variances against budgeted expenses.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on financial performance and trends.
• Assist with coordination of annual audits.
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including those specific to nonprofit organizations.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a lead or manager-level role.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting practices and GAAP.
• Experience with fund accounting or grant management preferred. 
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate across departments.

• the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
• licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
