Job Summary and Qualifications

The PICC Nurse Specialist collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure dependable venous access for patients requiring PICC lines, particularly those with challenging venous landscapes. This role demands advanced skills for placing peripherally inserted central venous catheters across diverse patient demographics.

This position entails working one 12-hour shift per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply specialized assessment skills to establish intravenous access for patients with difficult veins.
  • Assess, anticipate, and address patients' complex intravenous access needs while placing PICC lines as directed by physicians.
  • Recognize and implement educational needs related to advanced IV skills, managing and evaluating educational initiatives for staff.
  • Takes responsibility for making independent clinical judgments within established protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program (diploma, associate, or baccalaureate).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Texas or a Multi-State Compact License (compact license holders must obtain Texas RN License within 60 days of hire).
  • Certification as a PICC RN from an accredited training program.
  • A minimum of 3 years of critical care nursing experience, preferably in an ICU setting.
