Join the TECH CTO VR Video Coding Research team at Nokia TECH as a Principal Scientist and influence the future of video technology! In this pivotal role, you will develop, implement, and test cutting-edge video coding algorithms to enhance compression efficiency and deliver groundbreaking user experiences.   • Develop, implement and test novel video coding algorithms and solutions for next generation video codecs improving compression efficiency and enabling new user experiences.
  • Participate in hands-on research work and contribute to international standardization
  • Initiate and create research ideas as well as contribute to research work that leads to technology transfer, publications and Intellectual Property.

You have:

  • At least a Master's level degree in a relevant field (e.g. EE, computer science, signal processing), a PhD degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience on algorithm development for video coding tools
  • Strong background and knowledge of image and/or video signal processing and compression, including latest video coding standards, such as HEVC and VVC.
  • Strong mathematical and theoretical skills.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience of international standardization is considered a significant benefit (e.g. JVET, MPEG).
  • Experience in AI/neural networks based video compression
  • Knowledge on emerging video formats (360-degree compression, 6DOF video/image processing)
  • A track record of patent creation and publishing in scientific journals in the fields of video/image signal processing and compression.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills in English along with excellent technical and scientific writing skills in English.
