Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Security Manager, you will be responsible for the safeguarding of hotel property, assets, guests, visitors, and employees. You will supervise and train staff in established safety, security and emergency procedures. Position focuses on ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while protecting the property and safety of guests and employees.

Essential Functions
  • Manage day-to-day safety and security operations, ensuring compliance with laws, safety regulations, and key control guidelines.
  • Follows up on all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the well being of guests and employees.
  • Handles complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
  • Implements action plans to monitor and control risk.
  • Inspect security systems, conduct patrols, monitor unusual activity, respond to emergencies, and follow up on guest and employee incidents.
  • Lead loss prevention efforts including patrols, emergency protocol, investigations, key system management, visitor access, and compliance with the first aid and Duty of Care programs.
  • Maintains continual liaison with city and university police and fire departments leaders.
  • Adhere to flexible scheduling based on business needs, including holidays, nights, overnights, and weekends.
  • Select, supervise, and schedule qualified associates to meet operational and financial goals, encouraging alignment with hotel core values.
  • Train and coach associates in service standards, technical procedures, safety protocols, and department responsibilities.
  • Promote open communication, solicit feedback, encourage collaboration, support emotional wellness, and address employee concerns.
  • Ensure service exceeds guest expectations through daily monitoring, complaint resolution, and by fostering a hospitality-focused environment.
  • Support cross-department collaboration, administer injury claims, and communicate essential updates to leadership.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, service procedures, 4 Keys service standards, and safety and security procedures.
  • Perform all additional duties as assigned by Management.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates strong critical and decisive thinking skills, remaining calm and effective under pressure while resolving conflicts well.
  • Understand and align with the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel.
  • Prioritize tasks, work efficiently with limited supervision, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively in the primary workplace language, demonstrating excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
  • Work well under pressure and in challenging conditions, using good judgment to resolve problems, follow directions, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • CPR Certified
  • Responsible Alcohol Beverage Service Training RBS/TIPS
Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests in-person and phone conversation
  • Ability to bend and twist, push, and pull, stoop, and kneel
  • Ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs.
  • Hours flex by business demand which may include all shifts.
