SENIOR ACCOUNTANT Location; Sacramento, CA (Remote)
JOB DESCRIPTION The Senior Accountant provides leadership and hands-on support for accounting close and financial reporting activities within an insurance or financial services environment. This role supports business-as-usual close processes and contributes to enterprise resource planning system implementation efforts, ensuring accurate GAAP and Statutory financial reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Support the accounting close team during the ERP implementation period, including backfill for business-as-usual close activities and implementation or testing support.
- Review and evaluate actual financial results, analyze trends, and support quarterly financial reporting for assigned divisions.
- Prepare or perform first-level review of financial reporting packages, reconciliations, journal entries, and line-of-business financial analysis.
- Produce and review financial reporting on both GAAP and Statutory bases.
- Provide business and accounting support to Divisional FP&A teams related to quarterly results.
- Validate data conversion outputs as part of ERP implementation activities.
- nalyze and document future-state changes to quarterly close processes.
- Support the analysis and setup of close tools within the new technology platform.
- Participate in mock close testing to ensure readiness and accuracy.
- pply strong financial judgment and leadership to support accurate and timely reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience managing or supporting accounting close processes within an insurance or financial services organization.
- Demonstrated experience with GAAP and Statutory financial reporting.
- Broad-based financial and leadership background.
- Strong ability to analyze financial results and identify trends.
- CPA preferred.
