The Role

We are seeking a talented Consumer Analyst to join our Consumer Staples & Discretionary team. In this pivotal role, you will conduct in-depth research on consumer-facing companies, generate actionable investment theses, and support portfolio managers in executing high-conviction trades. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fundamental analysis of consumer companies, including financial modeling, valuation, and competitive benchmarking across sub-sectors like retail, food & beverage, apparel, and e-commerce.
  • Monitor macroeconomic trends, consumer behavior shifts, and regulatory changes impacting the sector; synthesize insights into concise research reports.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models (DCF, LBO, comps) to evaluate investment opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to pitch ideas, refine strategies, and track performance of existing positions.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential investments, including channel checks, supplier audits, and management meetings.
  • Stay ahead of industry developments through primary research, conferences, and data analytics tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or consulting focused on consumer sectors (sell-side or buy-side experience a plus).
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling (Excel advanced; familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, or Capital IQ).
  • Passion for consumer trends, with a keen eye for what drives brand loyalty and spending habits.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, idea-meritocratic environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data into clear, persuasive narratives.
