*This position is contingent on a future opening with Gunnison. Estimated late September 2025 start date.

Salary range: $115,000 - $129,000/year

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, review, and update comprehensive test plans, test strategies, and detailed test cases/scripts in alignment with IRS standards and project objectives.
• Ensure test coverage addresses functional, integration, security, accessibility, regression, and end-to-end testing needs.
• Execute manual and automated test cases/scripts for functional, integration, interface, accessibility and IT security-related testing.
• Work with software developers, business analysts, and other project personnel to facilitate defect resolution and re-testing.
• Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts as applicable, using customer-approved tools.
• Recommend enhancements to test processes, strategies, and tools, leveraging industry best practices.
• Prepare test summary reports, test result reports, test closure documentation, and metrics for inclusion in required project deliverables.
• Participate in peer reviews, status meetings, and knowledge transfer sessions.
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to less experienced testers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience performing software testing
• Experience with any of the following software/tools:

Computer Associates – Test Data Manager

Software Accessibility Tools (e.g. Dragon Naturally Speaking)

IBM Rational

JMeter

Junit

Selenium Automated Testing

Informatica

Control-M

• Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance and Testing methodologies including Black box/Gray box testing; system, functional, user, acceptance, integrated and sanity testing; defect reporting and management; status/progress reporting (e.g., metrics calculation, trending, and projections).
• U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
• Bachelor’s Degree

Nice to have:

• 3+ years of experience performing software testing at a Federal agency
• 3+ years of experience leading a software testing team Any professional certifications demonstrating knowledge of software testing.
• Understanding of IRS core financial/tax systems, security policies, and change management.
• Experience with leading/managing testing efforts for complex enterprise IT and financial systems using Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid methodologies.
• Experience with the following platforms:

Unisys mainframes

IBM mainframes

Microsoft Windows servers & workstations

Linux/Unix servers

Solaris

• Experience with the following database platforms:

Oracle

DB2

SQL Server

EMC Greenplum

• Experience testing custom APIs
• Any certifications demonstrating knowledge of how to perform software testing
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar field of study

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust AND ability to prove IRS tax compliance.

The salary range for this position depends upon multiple factors including location, the individual's knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, and contract-specific budget constraints and organizational requirements.
