Position Summary:

This Service Writer is responsible for assisting the Service Manager in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the Service Departments operation. This position requires a very careful adherence to well-defined work where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires a very strong attention to detail. The work performed by the Service Writer is inherently supportive, involving interactions with customers in a professional and caring manner, with a primary emphasis on completing tasks pleasantly and accurately while assisting others.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

• Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager and maintains control until they are closed and invoiced
• Prepare service repair orders for billing purposes
• Maintains service schedules
• Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department
• Maintains the service library with current information (files bulletins, manuals, multi-media, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Service Manager
• Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orders
• May process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission and follow-up
• Maintains Service Department filing and records
• May support other Best Equipment operations
  

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred
• Experience with and ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience
• Basic knowledge of accounting practices
• Knowledge of office procedures
