At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Starting Pay: $22-$27/hour
Position Summary As a member of the finance team, this position is responsible for supporting the monthly accounting cycle for the Company’s subsidiaries, including operational accounting and financial reporting related tasks, and assisting with quarterly SEC reporting.
Primary Accountabilities - Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP.
- Complete account reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet accounts.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of executive and board-level reports.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory and external reports.
- Provide necessary documentation to external auditors related to the quarterly financial statement review and annual financial statement audit.
- Research and correct account discrepancies to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as necessary.
- The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
- May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications Education/Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Demonstrated ability to learn and use new software and programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with internal and external clients.
- Works well in team environment.
- Excellent follow up skills.
- Self-motivated and strong team player
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, understanding that urgency and meeting deadlines are frequently part of the work.
