GQR Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Behavioral Health for a travel nursing job in Waco, Texas.

Behavioral Health – Registered Nurse (Mids & Nights)

Assignment Details:

• Start Date: 10/1
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule Options:
  • Mids: Tuesday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM (4x10s)
  • Nights: 10:00 PM – 8:30 AM (4x10s, every other weekend required)
• Hours: 40 hours/week
• Orientation: 2 weeks, then transition to the floor
• Floating: As needed per unit; agency nurses float first
• Extensions: Possible
• RTO: Accepted

Requirements:

• Active Texas RN License
• AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 year of nursing experience in a facility setting (acute care hospital, LTC, community clinic, or public health).
• Psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred.
• Strong background in direct client care, particularly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or medically fragile patients.
• Experience managing a large medication pass (up to 24 individuals on multiple medications).
• Nurses with nursing home experience often transition well into this environment.
• Home Health, Clinic, and Hospice experience do not typically provide the required medication administration background.
• Must meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

Environment & Patient Population:

• Intermediate care setting serving youth ages 13–17 with emotional or behavioral challenges.
• Nurses play a vital role in patient care, crisis management, medication administration, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, documenting in EMR, ensuring compliance with facility policies, and supporting both patients and staff.

• Scrubs: No color/style requirement
• Parking: Provided on-site
• EMR System: IRIS (Cerner subcontractor)
