Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Long Beach, CA
Duration: 13 weeks (Contract-to-Permanent Opportunity)
Shift: Night Shift, 3rd Shift (23:00 – 07:30)

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment in compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs).
• Operate sterilization equipment such as washers, autoclaves, and ultrasonic cleaners safely and effectively.
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and integrity before packaging.
• Assemble and wrap instrument trays and sets accurately according to facility and manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory levels.
• Identify and report missing, damaged, or malfunctioning instruments following standard procedures.
• Perform daily and routine maintenance of sterilization equipment and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Adhere to infection control, quality assurance, and safety protocols at all times.
• Communicate effectively with surgical staff, operations, and distribution teams to support daily workflow.
• Participate in ongoing education, training, and process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in sterile processing or central service in a hospital or surgical setting.
• Strong understanding of sterilization techniques, infection control principles, and instrument handling.
• Proficiency in documentation, instrument tracking systems, and workflow organization.
• Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications:

• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or equivalent certification (e.g., CIS ) – required
• High school diploma or equivalent – required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
