Union Organizer
Family Childcare Council

Based in Hartford, CT

CSEA SEIU Local 2001 is accepting résumés for the position of Child Care Organizer. Local 2001 has empowered public employees in Connecticut for over 70 years. We are a strong voice for public service, with over 20,000 members throughout the state, and representing over 3,000 child care providers.

The Child Care Organizer performs a variety of duties including:

• Identifying and recruiting member leaders
• Engaging members in union activities
• Developing member leaders
• Educates and trains officers, members, and non-union providers
• Plan and implements statewide and/or regional actions
• Organize and support regional and/or statewide membership meetings
• Assists with gathering information for contract negotiations
• Monitors and ensures contract compliance
• Attends and provides advocacy at Labor / Management meetings
• Supports organizing of non-union family child care providers
• Supports building political power for family child care providers
• Consistently recruits new union members
• Performs related work as required

Qualifications :

• Bilingual Spanish Speaker Required (Spoken and Written)
• Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and evenings
• Commitment to empowering workers through organizing
• Ability to work independently
• Must possess a vehicle and valid driver’s license
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required
• Must possess good written and oral communication skills and have the ability to work in stressful situations.
• Strong digital and technological literacy

Organizing experience is preferred but highly qualified entry level individuals are encouraged to apply. Salary range $59,686 – $77,705 commensurate with experience.
