Description Yard Assistant Job Summary The Yard Assistant supports daily yard operations at remote oilfield locations. This role is responsible for maintaining an organized yard, managing inventory, assisting with equipment staging, and supporting field crews with materials and supplies. The Yard Assistant ensures all tools, equipment, and materials are accounted for, stored correctly, and ready for deployment to job sites.
Position Requirements Yard Assistant Job Responsibilities - Maintain accurate inventory of tools, equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Perform regular cycle counts and assist with monthly/quarterly inventory audits.
- Receive, label, and store incoming materials in designated areas.
- Prepare and stage materials and equipment for field crews.
- Track equipment movement to and from job sites.
- Keep the yard clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Assist with loading/unloading trucks, using forklifts or other equipment when certified.
- Inspect equipment for damage or missing components before and after use.
- Dispose of waste and scrap materials according to company and environmental guidelines.
- Maintain basic tools and equipment, ensuring they are operable and safe.
- Report damaged or missing items to the Yard Supervisor.
- Assist in minor repairs or maintenance tasks as directed.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Identify and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Complete inventory logs, delivery forms, equipment check-out sheets, and other documentation.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and field personnel.
Yard Assistant Job Qualifications - Previous yard, warehouse, or oilfield experience preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts, telehandlers, or similar equipment (certification a plus).
- Basic mechanical knowledge helpful.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred, not required).
- Remote oilfield yard environment with exposure to weather, equipment, and moving vehicles.
- Requires standing, lifting, bending, and moving materials frequently.
