APP FULL-TIME INPATIENT HEMATOLOGY ONCOLOGY at Yale New Haven Health summary:

This full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position in inpatient Hematology Oncology at Yale New Haven Health involves comprehensive patient care including assessment, treatment planning, chemotherapy prescribing, and psychosocial support. The role requires collaboration with physicians, education of patients and families, and potential participation in surgical assistance. Candidates must have an accredited NP or PA degree, 1-2 years experience preferred, and appropriate licensure and certifications.

Responsibilities

As a valued member of our team, you will:
  • Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • W ork in collaboration with the attending supervising/collaborating physician(s) in accordance with state law and hospital regulations, hospital policy, protocols , and clinical pathways, and may provide autonomous team-based care.
  • Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, reviews/orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results, chemotherapy prescribing, formulates and manages patient treatment plans.
  • The APP will educate patients and families on care and available resources, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team . This includes admitting instructions, treatment plans, potential side effects, and discharge plans.
  • The APP , as part of a inter disciplinary team, provides psychosocial support to patients, their family members, and significant others in a caring, ethical, and professional manner.
  • Opportunity to serve in the OR as surgical assist.
Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
EXPERIENCE
  • 1-2 years of Hematology Oncology experience preferred
  • Active, unrestricted CT medical license or in process of obtaining
  • BLS (as required ) Certification
  • DEA License
