Estimator – High Voltage Substation & Transmission Projects

📍 Location: U.S. Houston TX

A leading infrastructure contractor in the power and utilities sector is seeking an experienced Estimator to support preconstruction and project planning efforts on medium and high voltage substation and transmission line projects.

This is a key opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in civil/electrical estimating, looking to take part in major EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) initiatives across the country.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and quantify cost factors including materials, labor, and production time
• Conduct site visits to gather key project inputs and assess field conditions
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to prepare accurate cost estimates
• Use Excel and Bluebeam for estimating and documentation
• Prepare takeoffs and solicit sub-contractor proposals
• Support development of project schedules and budgets
• Assist with writing work scopes, contract reviews, and change order negotiations
• Monitor budget vs actual performance and assist in corrective action planning
• Ensure all internal documentation and reporting is completed on time

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Electrical Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 5 years' experience estimating in utility or electrical construction, especially high voltage projects
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Bluebeam
• Strong ability to interpret electric construction drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills
• Experience managing multiple projects and estimating for complex scopes

Preferred Experience:

• Estimating EPC projects for substations and transmission/distribution lines
• Previous hands-on experience in medium and high voltage utility construction
