Join Our Team as a Sommelier at D’Amico’s The Continental!

The Sommelier is responsible for accentuating the overall dining experience and maximizing guest satisfaction, sales, and profitability. Educates and trains staff about wine, tastings, and pairings that complements the food. Works with management to select, purchase, and monitor inventory to ensure the beverage program incorporates knowledge of industry trends, food pairings and customer desires. This position works closely with General Manager and Bar Supervisors to manage beverage budgets and inventories. Base hourly rate is between $17-19 an hour as well as a percentage of wine sales dependent on candidate's level of experience and knowledge.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversees the daily activities necessary for maintenance and promotion of the organization’s wine collection for D’Amico’s The Continental in line with the company’s mission of being a premier restaurant.
  • Actively work floor shifts to recommend and serve wine to guests.
  • Identify and purchase wines for the organization, working in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Monitor the conditions of the wine storage, ensuring optimal storage conditions.
  • Work with the kitchen staff to develop food and wine pairings.
  • Develop accurate and aggressive long- and short-range financial objectives related to wine service at The Continental.
  • Develop and implement sales promotions and tastings related to the wine program.
  • Work with other managers to establish wine prices that are profitable and sensitive to the marketplace.
  • Work closely with the Bar Supervisors and servers to ensure proper implementation of the wine program. This will involve a variety of tasks but will include training staff and leading a bi-weekly staff training course.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long shifts (10-12 hours)
  • Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Strong communication skills, including clear verbal and written English
